The 51st Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC), also called Shanghai Microwave Equipment Research Institute, was founded in June 1978 and focuses on the development of professional technologies and equipment related to electronic information products.
The institute has been based in Jiading since its establishment and is divided into three parts – headquarters, manufacturing base, and debugging center – which have a combined area of 8.4 hectares.
It has 11 functional, 10 technical and 3 production departments and has one subsidiary company.
Following a pattern of developing and producing electronics equipment for military and civil use, the institute has produced a number of technologies and products in several professional fields, all of which have their own distinctive features and independent property intellectual rights.
Over its more than 40 years of development, the institute has remained devoted to enhancing its hardware facilities and elevating its research capabilities. Since its establishment, it has made over 200 research findings, received over 40 awards at provincial and higher levels, and received 10 technological patents.
By maintaining sound and steady relationships with many leading domestic companies, the institute has played an active role in civilian markets, producing waveguide components and parts, microwave modules, general purpose instruments, and rail transit signal transmission systems.
Its subsidiary company in microwave communication received strategic investment in 2012 and is seeking fast but moderate development.
