Shanghai's Jiading district signed cooperation agreements with five leading enterprises involved in artificial intelligence (AI) and automatic driving. This is expected to inject new momentum into Jiading's smart transportation and intelligent manufacturing industries, local news reported on July 19.

Beijing's Neolix Technology, one of the five companies, spoke highly of Jiading's suitable environment for the development of automatic driving. The company is testing automatic driving in a variety of scenarios with the help of Shanghai International Auto City in Jiading.

Neolix Technology has launched road tests and trial operations for various unmanned vehicles used for selling products and delivering food in the auto city. The company said that it will place around 100 unmanned vehicles in Jiading for selling products, logistics, security, and protection, and establish a research and development (R&D) center in the auto city.

Another company to sign an agreement with Jiading was a high-tech innovative joint venture focusing on autonomous driving and AI. It offers consumers integrated services related to R&D, manufacturing, sales, and after-sales services.

Pony.ai, an autonomous driving startup based in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou, said that it will formulate a strategic business layout for the Yangtze River Delta region and work with Jiading to bring automatic driving technology to the market.

Pony.ai said that Jiading is one of the first places in China to test intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs), and it has formed a complete industrial ecosphere for the development of ICVs.
