Malan Tou (Indian Aster)

Another popular weed harvested around this time is malan tou, or Indian aster, a member of the chrysanthemum family. These leafy plants are best cooked in sizzling chicken fat, with pieces of dried tofu and sesame oil added to fill out the dish. Braised pork with dried malan tou is another popular dish.
