Eight volunteers from Shanghai's Jiading district were part of the 25th Shanghai volunteer team that left for Yunnan province on August 17 and will begin a six-month stint of volunteer work there.
The eight volunteers, who are on average 29 years old, will perform volunteer work in Yunnan's Chuxiong Yi autonomous prefecture in the fields of social administration and medical and health care.
In 1983, Jiading and Chuxiong forged cordial ties, and in 2017, they started taking part in China's "paired assistance" program.
Jiading district has sent 54 volunteers to work as volunteers in Yunnan province since 1998. They have strengthened collaboration between Shanghai and the province of Yunnan and have contributed to the economic, social, and rural vitalization of Yunnan.
