The Lujiazui finance area of the Pudong New District of Shanghai has opened a cartoon exhibition to promote the Lei Feng Spirit on Sept 22 with help from People's Daily, and the Dada Group, a Shanghai private company.
The display has 200 cartoons with commentary and older articles from People's Daily that ask people to learn from Lei Feng, a celebrated People's Liberation Army soldier who was known for his selfless devotion to the people, but who unfortunately died at only the age of 22, in 1962.
He was praised by China's leaders as a role model for society and today the government has brought him back because it says it wants to improve the social and moral environment.
The exhibition's theme is "Learning from Lei Feng" to introduce the Lei Feng Spirit to local people in an interesting way.
