The Pudong Library in the city of Shanghai's Pudong New District recently started a bookmobile service, Pudong Times reports on April 15.
The bookmobile is a van-like vehicle designed for use as a library, which can hold almost 3,000 books as well as computers and seats so that people can borrow books or read them in the vehicle.
The mobile library provides free WiFi access and people can get the same library card as the normal Pudong Library card via the bookmobile, allowing for interlibrary loan and returns.
The vehicle will visit the district's Lujiazui finance area regularly, as well as Zhangjiang High Tech Park, Jinqiao Export Processing Zone, and expo park, bringing convenience and making it easier for local workers and residents to borrow books.
The bookmobile has already handled 182 library cards, lent out nearly 900 books and received about 7,200 readers during its month-long trial operation, and has won the praise of locals.
