A new book series introducing the dramatic changes of Lujiazui, a financial hub in Shanghai's Pudong New District, over the past 25 years was released on April 18, to celebrate the 26th anniversary of Pudong's opening up and development.

The book was sponsored by the Lujiazui Group and the city's planning bureau and was published by China Architecture & Building Press, which aims to chronicle the area's experiences in the process of development and serve as a reference to its future growth.

To ensure the readability of the book and accuracy of its historical data, the editorial committee included more than 10 people who have witnessed Lujiazui's planning and development firsthand during different periods. The committee also interviewed the area's former leaders and design experts, and asked them to give suggestions for the book.

The series contains a total of three million words and consists of five volumes, including overall planning, key areas planning, exploitation and practice, city functions, and construction achievements.

Lujiazui now boasts considerable skyscrapers, leading financial institutions, and large talented personnel. Its growth is attributed to the central government's support and local authorities' hard work and continuous efforts.
