Pudong New Area, Shanghai recently became home to a business incubator which focuses on augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), Pudong Times reported on July 14.
The incubator, founded by Guangzhou Dreamland Maker Digital, has already nurtured a total of eight startups since its inception four months ago.
Super Captain, one of the eight startups, has already developed its own AR/VR products and applied them in the commercial real estate industry.
The aim of the incubator is to offer experience and advice to promising startups and help them accelerate the commercialization of their research findings, said Chen Jian, CEO of Guangzhou Dreamland Maker Digital.
The incubator will not only provide entrepreneurial services, technology resources and a certain amount of privileges to the new enterprises, but also be committed to forging an industrial ecosphere for them to find business partners more easily and enhance cooperation.
The AR/VR industry has seen a great rise in interest in recent times, but still has a long way to go in China before bringing about economic benefits.
The incubator, by integrating resources and accumulating experience within the industry and gathering potential partners, will help facilitate the development of AR/VR industry in China.
