It is about 2km southwest of Sheshan Mountain. To its east is Chenshan Pond. At its southern foot lies the old Chenshan town. The mountain is 69.8m above sea level. Its area is about 20ha.

As the mountain is in "Chen" position (southeast) of the nine peaks, it was named Chenshan Mountain. According to legend, immortals have stayed in the mountain, so it is also called Divine Mountain.

In the sixth year of Emperor Tianbao's reign in the Tang Dynasty (AD 747), it was called Xilin Mountain. In the modern days, people exploded the mountain in order to get stones and nearly a half the mountain was removed. Now it is a cliff where sound echoes.
