With East Sheshan Mountain to its south and Phoenix Mountain to its south, the mountain is 74.1 meters above sea level. Its circumference is about 1.5km. Its area is about 26.6 hectares.

According to the Geographical Records of Wu written by Lu Guangwei in the Tang Dynasty (AD 618~907), Xue Daoyue lived here in the Tang Dynasty. That is why the mountain was named Xueshan Mountain.

According to the Annals of Songjiang Prefecture written during Emperor Kangxi's reign in the Qing Dynasty (AD 1661~1722), a stone was unearthed in the mountain. The stone bore two characters "Yu Ping" and the mountain looks like a screen, so it is also called "Yuping Mountain".
