Various kinds of orchid flowers are well preserved at Chenshan Botanical Garden.

Glittering sunshine shone down on the Chenshan Botanical Garden as more than 70,000 visitors packed in on May 1, to get a closer look at the beauty of nature on the holiday.

The 3rd International Shanghai Orchid Show undoubtedly served as the highlight of the garden, where more than 30,000 orchids of 600 different kinds from across four continents were on show.

With the theme of "Orchid and Health", the garden also played host to various interactive events such as an orchid painting competition, a wedding floral display show, flower parade and orchid search adventure.

Several elegant models donned beautifully designed wedding dresses matched with pretty flowers, attracting many to take photos. The "Orchid Seeking Adventure" activity aimed at getting children excited about science saw 500 families join in on the day, setting new records for the number of people participating in science popularization activities in a single day.

More than 100 volunteers were on hand to act as tour guides and give useful tips and advice for visitors in order to improve their experience and maintain the order. Free buses offered convenient transportation service saving visitors' time on roads. The newly-launched green restaurant, stall market and singing service also added a lot of fun.
