Visitors tour the Chenshan Plant Science Research Center under the guidance of staff on May 15.

The Shanghai Chenshan Plant Science Research Center, Chinese Academy of Science, had a public open house on May 15. Seventy plant lovers from all walks of life experienced a bubbly day wandering around the tech center.

Visitors were in high spirits as they were led by working staff of the research center to view the demonstration area and get acquainted with all kinds of botanical plants. Several botanical scientists launched a science popularization lecture presenting a brand new plant world for participants. A guessing competition also added fun to the day, where plant seeds were given as gifts to the delight of visitors.

The public open house for the plant science research center is part of the local "Tech Week" that aims at developing visitors' scientific literacy as well as improving public awareness in ecological civilization.
