The long-anticipated historical site, Guangfulin Relics Park, started its trial operation on June 26, with the opening of ten sub-exhibition parts for local residents.

Covering 40,000 square meters, the relic park will include different exhibition areas showcasing folk culture, religious culture and local historical heritage. The ten sub-exhibition parts opened for the trail operation for local residents include the Guangfulin Culture Museum, Zhiye Temple, the Duoyun Academy and the Pottery Museum.

The Guangfulin Culture Museum includes three buildings which are partially underwater, making for a spectacular scene in the park. The three buildings feature displays of cultural relics, reproductions of folk customs from the Han dynasty (206 BC-AD220) and the telling of stories of important historical figures in ancient Shanghai.

The Guangfulin Relics Park, a prehistoric cultural relic in the Neolithic Age, was first discovered in 1989. It reproduces Shanghai’s ancient way of life and ancient Guangfulin culture, and is located in Songjiang district. Visitors will have the chance to enjoy over 5,000 years of culture and history in the park during the trial operation, and also when it opens fully to the public, which it is expected to do by the end of the year.
