The Guangfulin Cultural Relics Park in Shanghai Sheshan National Tourist Resort was recognized as a 4A-level scenic area, with the highest in China being 5A, according to a notice released by the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism on Nov 4.
Covering 57 hectares, Guangfulin Cultural Relics Park where relics of an ancient culture dating back to the Neolithic Age have been unearthed, is a must-visit scenic attraction in the Shanghai Sheshan National Tourist Resort.
The park, dubbed the "Root of Shanghai", reveals the city's ancient way of life and offers ample evidence of ancient inhabitants living in Shanghai 5,000 years ago.
In June 2018, the first phase of the park started trial operations. At present, there are 12 venues open to the public: Guangfulin Cultural Exhibition Hall, Guangfulin Archaeological Site Exhibition Hall, Chen Zilong's Memorial Hall, Fulin Tower, Impressions of Fulin, Wooden Art Exhibition Hall, Antique Pottery Museum, Zhiye Temple, Sanyuan Palace, Town God's Temple, Temple of Guan Yu and Duoyun Academy of Classical Learning. There is also an exhibition hall of traditional Chinese music and musical instruments.
The Guangfulin Archaeological Site Exhibition Hall covers 7,788 square meters and looks like three earthen pots and five broken pottery pieces as its designer was inspired by the look of a pottery pot half burried in the earth which was found in an archaeological dig at the site.
