There was a "Casting Chinese Spirit" in Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi province, on Sept 1, sponsored by the China Social Welfare Foundation, the Chinese Spirit Fund, and the Chinese Mencius Association, with more than 200 people taking part, including political and business people, and educators, from Beijing and Shanxi.
The focus of the meeting was the shaping of the Chinese spirit and the Chinese dream, with a discussion on the core values of Chinese, contemporary goals, the relationship between the Chinese spirit and the Chinese dream, traditional Shanxi culture, and Chinese values in a new era.
The chairman of the Chinese Mencius Association, Meng Xiangge, gave the keynote speech.
Mencius (BC37-BC289) was a Chinese philosopher who is considered China's most famous Confucian --after Confucius himself.
