Wen Zhaowei, manager of its Shanxi branch, explained that on average the superfast 4G mobile broadband can handle 30 Mbit/s, compared with the 3G network’s average of up 6 Mbit/s and added,"In the past, it could take two hours to download a High Definition movie, but with 4G technology, the time can be cut to just 1 or 2 minutes."

China Mobile outlets in Shanxi are providing a new range of 4G deals, one of the popular of which, the 4G Feixiang, includes up to 2GB of data and 2,000 voice minutes.

The company will also provide customer updates regularly via text message, to avoid higher bills. And the 4G network is expected to cover Shanxi's rural areas by the end of the second quarter of 2014.

The term 4G refers to the fourth generation of mobile communication technology, with mobile ultra-broadband Internet access, for use with laptops with USB wireless modems, smartphones, and other mobile devices.
