Puju actor from Xinjiang county's Puju Troupe in Shanxi province perform on Sept 11. Puju also known as Puzhou bangzi – a variety of Chinese opera which originated from Southern Shanxi’s Puzhou – is a more ancient type of bangzi that makes use of very wide linear intervals. In order to enrich the residents’ cultural life and promote Puju opera, the city of Yuncheng in Shanxi province has initiated a one-month opera highlights competition from August 28.
