The China Pingyao International Photography Festival (PIP) is to unveil its 14th session in the ancient city of Pingyao on Sept 19 and last until Sept 25. Under this year's theme, "Life of Photography, World of Dreams", over 10,000 photographic works by more than 2,000 photographers from 32 countries and regions throughout the world will be exhibited at the annual festival.
In addition to the photography exhibitions on multiple topics, an academic exchange, forums and competition are also helping to fuel the photography event.
From its debut in 2001, PIP has attracted hundreds of photographers from China and abroad, among whom were a great number of masters, like Marc Riboud (France), Rene Burri (France), Susan Meiselas (US), Martine Franck (Belgium) and Uiano Lucas (Italy).
PIP is one of the "Top 10 Festivities in China" and was listed as one of "China's Most Internationally Influential 10 Festivities" by IFEA (International Festivals and Events Association). It has become one of the most important celebrations for the photography scene, and has even been hailed as "the Oscars" for photographers.
