In order to enrich the recreational and experience-based tourism products and promote the integrated development of tourism with industry, agriculture, forestry and culture, Shanxi has presented the 2014 Shanxi’s Top 100 Recreational Tourism Products to tourists thanks to joint efforts of over 10 related organs, including the Shanxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission and provincial departments of agriculture and culture.
The list covers 10 categories, including the top 10 industrial tourism demonstration destinations, top 10 tourism cultural towns, top 10 cultural tourism streets, top 10 resorts, top 10 rural folk inns and top 10 forest tourism areas.
The 100 tourism products were made in accordance with tourist-oriented principles and based on the tourist satisfaction survey and online reviews from tourists. All the products have passed rigorous selection, according to Feng Jianping, head of the Shanxi Tourism Bureau.
Historic relics are a major part of Shanxi’s tourism. And most of the tourism products in the market are sightseeing products, much more than the recreational and experience-based tourism products.
“This selection for top 100 tourism products, it is not only a measure to promote the integration development of tourism with its related industries, but also to promote the development of recreational and experience-based tourism products,” Feng said.
