The opening ceremony of a Shanxi channel on Hrtv.com was held on Oct 13. The channel will give the province more opportunities to display its culture to Chinese worldwide.
The channel aims to help the world better understand Shanxi and help the province go global. It will tap local culture, record cultural miracles and display the graceful demeanor of Shanxi merchants. At the same time, the channel will make use of the websites of China Network Television, People's Daily and Xinhua to make and spread cultural information catering to global audiences. At the moment, several distinct programs have begun, such as the Positive Energy program in Shanxi and Eat in Shanxi program.
CCTV opened a professional people channel in 2009, the first of its kind to serve global Chinese audiences. This Chinese channel mainly makes and broadcasts original Chinese videos to spread Chinese spirit and culture. In 2012, the channel was simultaneously broadcast on the websites of China Network Television, Xinhua and People's Daily. Many local sub-channels have also been established across the country, as well as in some foreign countries.
