Shanxi Tourism Bureau focused on the recommendation of eight tour routes, covering the province's main attractions, including World Heritage sites (Mount Wutai, the Ancient City of Pingyao and Yungang Grottoes), ancient architectures, Shanxi merchants and customs, Taihang Mountain and the Yellow River.
Shanxi has implemented a series of tourist-friendly measures from May 15, 2013. According to these measures, domestic and foreign visitors to Shanxi's 49 scenic spots will enjoy discounts of 20 percent during the busy season and 40 percent in the off season. Tickets will be free to the elderly (older than 60-year-old) and disabled.

Shanxi and Sichuan are complementary in terms of travel markets and tourism products. The two provinces are important travel destinations and sources of tourists for each other, said Feng Jianping, head of Shanxi Tourism Bureau at the conference.
Shanxi and Sichuan's tourism bureaus signed a cooperation agreement at the conference. Travel agencies from the two provinces also signed agreements on exchange tourist sources.

In order to promote tourism, Shanxi started a promotion tour from 2013. After 14 stops in Beijing, Hong Kong, Shandong and other cities and provinces it came to Sichuan this month. Its promotion will go on in three Northeast China's provinces, namely, Heilongjiang, Liaoning and Jilin; and Northwest China's Gansu, Qinghai and Ningxia provinces.
