Taosi sits at the foot of Chongshan Mountain in Linfen's Xiangfen county, covering 3 million square meters. It is a relic that typified the Longshan Culture along the middle reach of the Yellow River about 4000 to 4600 years ago.

The State Council put Taosi under national protection in 1988. The latest archeological discovery has confirmed that Taosi is the location of the capital of the Yao period about 4,200 years ago.
The exhibition on Taosi archeological achievements from April 2 to 24 aims to present the most ancient part of China. Archeological discoveries from the site, including ancient characters, musical instruments, observatories and sacrificial vessels were displayed to illustrate civilization in the Yao period.
