As a part of the first Linfen Emperor Yao Culture Tourism Festival, a gong and drum contest opened on April 2, in Linfen, Shanxi province.
Linfen is the cradle of drums. Early in 1980, the archeologists excavated ancient drums from Taosi, a relic that typified the Longshan Culture along the middle reach of the Yellow River about 4000 to 4600 years ago in Linfen. These drums were proved to be 4,300 to 4,500 years old.
