The Shanxi University Enactus team won the first prize in the East China regional competition for the Enactus World Cup 2015, becoming the only team in Shanxi province to enter the national finals.
The East China competition was held in Shanghai on April 28. Enactus teams from 76 universities in Shanghai and provinces of Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Henan and Shanxi gathered there to compete for 28 admission tickets to the national finals.
Sixteen students representing the Enactus team of Shanxi University claimed the top prize with two programs, one for a new type of straw and another on cultivating edible fungus on vinegar dregs. Both technologies have been tried out in local farming with favorable results.
The Shanxi University team also received the award of the best technological innovation program in the Shanghai competition. The team will take part in the national final competition scheduled in the end of May. The final winner will represent China in the Enactus World Cup 2015 in Johannesburg, South Africa on Oct 14-16.
