The 9th Central China Investment and Trade Expo (Expo Central China) opened on May 18 in Wuhan, Hubei province. Shanxi province took part in the expo with 123 projects.
The expo's Shanxi pavilion, covering 504 square meters, was designed to showcase the province's new image and restructuring development.
Wang Yang, Chinese Vice-Premier visited Shanxi's pavilion, where he said the province's restructuring should prioritize the utilization of clean and low-carbon coal.
On the expo's opening day, Shanxi held its key projects promotion conference, which was also the second stop of the province's investment promotion tour. 123 projects were promoted to the representatives of 246 domestic and overseas enterprises. The total investment of these projects hit 232 billion yuan ($40.6 billion).

In order to speed up the reform on investment and financing, the province has prepared 40 infrastructure projects, involving highways, railways and pipelines. Shanxi encouraged the investment of social capital to these projects.
Wang Yixin, deputy governor of Shanxi province introduced the province's restructuring in the coal and non coal industries at the promotion conference.
The Central China Investment and Trade Expo is a national trade expo was jointly organized by the the Ministry of Commerce, the State Administration of Taxation and the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, as well as six provinces in middle China. A total of 250,000 exhibitors from over 60 countries and regions took part in the three-day expo.
