Shanxi province has made a step forward in legal protection of the environment and resources, by announcing the establishment of an environmental protection law society, on Dec 12 in Taiyuan, the provincial capital, after nearly a year of preparation, as a non-profit organization that includes members of companies in resource development and environmental protection, institutions, research institutes, legal affairs offices and environmentalists
The society’s goals are to pushing for laws on resource and environment protection, providing legal services for the public and guaranteeing environmental rights. At the same time as the inauguration, there was a themed activity simultaneously to provide free legal advice for resource and environmental protection workers, such as sanitation, with at least 10 lawyers on hand.
