Internet charges fell by 30 percent as more than 20 related policies began to take effect, according to the Shanxi Communications Administration, Taiyuan Daily has reported.
Shanxi has lowered international roaming charges, cancelled long-distance and roaming fees between the cities of Taiyuan and Jinzhong, and given up data zero clearing in a package for the current month, resulting in a 56 percent-drop in the price of 50M broadband products and 90 percent in that of the 1.5G data traffic package within the province.
The Shanxi branch of China Mobile offered large discounts on its services, including international roaming fees, voice packages, and data traffic packages. The Shanxi branch of China Unicom and China Telecom also reduced charges for data traffic or enhanced network speed.
The Shanxi communications administration conducted an on-site and phone call review of Internet services and policy implementation in the province.
