The fourth session of the 11th Shanxi Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) opened on Jan 26 in Taiyuan, capital of the province.
Xue Yanzhong, chairman of the Shanxi Provincial Committee of the CPPCC, made a work report on behalf of its Standing Committee at the opening ceremony.
Xue said the CPPCC Shanxi Committee has made progress in many aspects of its work, performing its duties such as political consultation, democratic supervision, and participation in the administration and discussion of state affairs.
He said it's important that in 2016 the province carry out structural reform and build a welfare society in a comprehensive way. The Shanxi Provincial Committee of the CPPCC will fully shoulder its responsibilities and facilitate the province's having a good start for the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020).
Wang Rulin, secretary of the Shanxi Provincial Party Committee, and Li Xiaopeng, governor of the province, took part in the session meeting, joined by as many as 503 CPPCC Shanxi Committee members.
