Shanxi, Shaanxi and Henan province have vowed to further develop joint inspection and quarantine mechanisms to boost the outward-looking economy in the region.

Authorities from the three provinces signed a Memorandum of Understanding about establishing a team on sharing inspection and quarantine resources.

The collaboration aims to promote a trilateral platform that helps recognize testing results in each province, train staff, hold commission tests and share scientific research findings and other information.

Mutual recognition of test results will greatly reduce redundant testing and develop an efficient and convenient method of custom clearance.

The cooperation mechanism will also strengthen supervision and management of the import and export of wild plants and animals, monitoring of toxic and harmful substances, checking for veterinary drug residues in food, and blocking of invasive alien species.

The platform will provide public testing services, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises. This will provide a basis for administrative enforcement and ensure the quality of the testing.

China's State Council, the country's cabinet, approved a plan to promote regional cooperation in the Shanxi-Shaanxi-Henan Yellow River "golden triangle" in 2014, ushering in a period of rapid development for the region.

The golden triangle area consists of the adjoining parts of Shanxi, Shaanxi and Henan provinces on both sides of the Yellow River, namely the cities of Yuncheng, Linfen, Weinan and Sanmenxia. It covers an area of 57,800 square kilometers.

The inspection and quarantine mechanism in the "golden triangle" was established three years ago.

Shanxi has set up eight national food and agricultural product safe quality model districts.

The province exported 120,000 tons of fruit last year under the downward pressure of the sluggish export trading situation. Shanxi opened markets in the United States, Australia, Canada and other countries for the sale of apples, peaches and nectarines.
