Taiyuan Sports Bureau announced it will be hosting dragon boat races in Taiyuan on the Fen River this month.
More than 300 athletes in 12 professional teams, six from Shanxi and six from other provinces, will participate in the races.
They will compete in the 200-meter straightaway and 500-meter straightaway races. The champion team will be awarded with a 30,000 yuan ($4,530) prize.
The Shanxi Sports Bureau and iRENA are strategic partners for the competition.
iRENA is a long term partner of major sports teams in China. The company specializes in ticketing, hosting, and game management.
The two sides will also work on hosting sports events, sports venue planning and operation, youth sports education, and promotion of the second National Youth Games to be held in 2019.
Taiyuan will serve as the competition venue for 60 percent of the games during the National Youth Games.
This will be the first time for the city to host a national comprehensive sports event.
