Shanxi province has decided to build 190,000 electric vehicle charging piles to stimulate the production in the market and promote green travel.
The local government will invest more than 5.2 billion yuan ($780.48 million) in constructing the charging facilities in the coming five years. The charging piles will be firstly built in Taiyuan, Jinzhong and Jincheng to boost the following construction in nearby cities.
A further 343 charging stations and one intelligent platform will be built to serve the province, supporting the operation of electric buses and taxis by the end of 2020.
Apart from being applied to public transport, charging piles will be built in communities for residents with electric vehicles.
Private garages in newly built neighborhoods must be fully equipped with charging facilities for electric vehicles, according to the local authority.
