Shanxi products were well received among visitors at the China Food and Catering Expo held in Changsha, Hunan province, from Sept 9 to 12.
Shanxi organized many activities to promote its brands and culture in Hunan throughout the expo, including presentations of Shanxi intangible cultural heritages and business conferences between Shanxi and Hunan enterprises.
More than 1,000 products from 41 Shanxi companies were displayed at the expo, attracting local residents and distributors on the lookout for business partners.
Yuan Changjiang, manager of Shanxi Food Co, said, "It's unexpected that our rice wine gained such popularity in Changsha. There have been three dealers wanting to cooperate with us in just half an hour."
The event strengthened the cooperation and communication in food industry and trade between Shanxi and Hunan.
Xu Xiangping, director of Hunan department of commerce, hoped that the two provinces will further collaboration in economy and trade as well as help to popularize green food from Shanxi in Hunan.
"We expect to let more Changsha citizens know about Shanxi brands, companies and culture by exhibiting Shanxi specialties at the food expo," said Sun Yuejin, director of Shanxi department of commerce.
The exhibition in Changsha was part of the "Shanxi brands tour China", a program aimed at improving the image of Shanxi province. The program, initiated in 2013, will involve activities in six provincial capitals across China this year.
