A group of volunteers from Daxing district in Beijing travelled to Pingyao from Oct 6 to 8, to make charitable donations to poor families living in the county's mountainous regions.

The trip to Pingyao, as one of the stop in the charity event named "Love in Bloom", saw some 30 bags of clothing and blankets, as well as 12,457 yuan ($1,853) in cash donated to local families.

The group also donated computers, stationery, balls and toys to children at three primary schools in Zhukeng town.

By doing good deeds themselves, these volunteers hoped to appeal to the public to join in charity, helping more people in need out.
The Daxing district community website, 25dx.com, helped to organize the event which has been held six times since 2012. It aims to assist children and needy people in poor areas by raising donations from netizens and social charities.
