Wang Yuyan, leader of Yuncheng, said, "The expo is expected to boost local food and agricultural industries as more investment from enterprisers will pour into the city through the promotion."

Yuncheng is able to grow a wide variety of sweet fruit due to varying range of temperatures and ample sunshine it experiences over the course of a year. In 2015, the city produced six million tons of fruit. In response to the Belt and Road Initiative, the city has exported some 130,000 tons of fruit to 37 countries and regions, such as the United States and Australia, for improving the international influence of its fruit.
