A selection of antiques from Shanxi Museum will be on show at the State Historical Museum of Russia in late November.
The exhibition will focus on the lives of Shanxi people in ancient times, as well as on the province's unique arts and history. It will be separated into three sections. A section will be dedicated to the history of the province and the etiquette of its nobility, a part to house utensils and daily living, and a division to religious belief.
Around 120 antiques, including 21 top cultural treasures ranging from the Western Zhou Dynasty (c.11th century-771 BC) to the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907), were packaged and handed over to Russia on Nov 4. The exhibition is the first time Shanxi and Russian museums have cooperated.
Shanxi Museum in Taiyuan is the largest museum in the province, covering an area of 112,000 square meters. It is home to 400,000 antiques and some 110,000 ancient books.
The State Historical Museum of Russia, founded in 1873, is one of the oldest museums in Moscow. Its abundant collection of historical relics attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
