Shanxi begins new round of recruitment

More than 52,000 job hunters took part in the 2016 Shanxi (Taiyuan) Job Fair from Nov 12 to 13.

The fair at China Taiyuan Coal Transaction Center contained 684 booths and offered some 30,000 posts in sectors ranging from education and coal, to medicine and the tourism industry. Probation opportunities for undergraduates and posts for technology specialists were available as well.

There were some 930 enterprises at the job fair, including several global top 500 companies, such as Ping An Group and Samsung. Twenty-seven famous businesses from developed industrial areas like Tianjin Binhai New Area and Kunshan in Jiangsu province also came to recruit new employees.

Apart from increasing levels of employment, the event aimed to encourage new businesses. It delivered promotional presentations for 71 entrepreneurship projects, giving various choices to potential startups attending the fair.

Targeted at companies suffering from overcapacity, a consultation area was set up to support them in handling redundancies.

The two-day activity helped some 7,700 job seekers receive job offers, with graduates accounting for half of the total. More than 130 cooperation agreements on entrepreneurship were reached during the event. Around 5,800 people made redundant by companies in Shanxi were hired by 74 businesses in cities like Beijing, Suzhou, and Tianjin.
