Young trainees from Laos study dance at Shanxi Drama Vocational College in Taiyuan on Dec 8. There were 44 post-1990s dancers from Laos Mekong River Troupe selected to join in the learning exchange program. The training, which began on Dec 1, will continue until Jan 15. The courses involve folk dance, modern dance, and classic dance from the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220) and the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907). The 45-day training period will give Laotian trainees the opportunity to learn more about Shanxi culture, and further cultural cooperation between Laos and the northern Chinese province.
