Fan Lixia, director of the Standing Committee of Jincheng People's Congress, put forward her proposals on fostering tourism in Shanxi, while attending the group meeting for Jincheng's delegations during the seventh session of the 12th Shanxi provincial People's Congress.
Fan stressed the importance of tourism to the province's development. She suggested that the provincial government should enact preferential policies to attract more private capital to tourism programs.
She proposed that due to the climate and geography of Shanxi, several travel themed events could be launched to invite more visitors to the province during tourist season, such as marketing the province as a summer destination.
In her view, improving infrastructure is vital. Services targeted at potential tourists from the South China, including holiday rentals, also need to be provided to boost tourism.
