Jincheng in Shanxi province will construct a 500-kilometer main road over the coming three years to drive local tourism.
The road will start from Qizi Mountain where Gujiao town and Liuquan town intersect, and terminate in Gujiao town, Lingchuan county. The road will extend across five counties, including Lingchuan and Zezhou, 30 towns, and 262 villages.
Once finished, the road will connect 23 local tourist attractions and link with exits of 13 expressways in the city, eight provincial roads and four national highways. The improved transportation network will promote tourism and the economy in the regions along the main road.
Currently, the government of Jincheng has raised some 6 billion yuan ($874.61 million) for the road project through bank loans, government funding and investment from public-private partnerships. The project will begin in October and be put into service in 2019.
