The recent innovations of Pingyao county were on display at the exhibtion highlighting technological achievements of 2016 Shanxi Staff Innovation and Invention Competition in Taiyuan from Feb 23 to 25.
The four exhibited innovations included Shanxi Uni-moon New Optical Materials Co's new LED light panel optimization process and a tibial tubercle mobile traction device designed by Pingyao People's Hospital.
"We improved the quality and appearance of LED panel lights by upgrading processing techniques," said Yao Jipeng, manager of Shanxi Uni-moon New Optical Materials' R&D department.
A total of 590 inventions from city-level trade union federations and provincial labor unions from across Shanxi were exhibited.
"We will call on more local workers to practice entrepreneurship and innovation, contributing to the county's development," said Wu Chengjun, director of the Pingyao trade union federation's production department.
Initiated in 2015, the Shanxi Staff Innovation and Invention Competition has expanded its area from industrial companies to various social groups, traditional industries to high-tech sectors and business giants to small and medium-sized enterprises.
Pingyao has entered some 30,000 innovations to the annual event since 2015, earning 400 million yuan ($58.09 million) in profits.
In 2016, more than 4.92 million workers and 20,100 companies across Shanxi took part in the competition, bringing 105,000 inventions and making profits of 5.37 billion yuan ($779.94 million).
