Henan Chamber of Commerce in Shanxi province held its fourth general meeting and an economic development summit on April 16 in Taiyuan, reviewing its work in 2016 and discussing the future development plan.
Lectures focusing on macro-economy were given during the meeting to help member companies adapt to China's "new normal" which refers to the current domestic economic conditions as opposed to the previous period of high growth, as well as explore business opportunities and further industrial structural transformation.

The chamber donated 50,000 yuan ($7,260.49) to Gaoyatou village in Zhongyang county, Shanxi, in response to the government's appeal to businesses to help rural communities develop their economies.
A board of supervisors for the chamber was also set up during the meeting.

Henan Chamber of Commerce in Shanxi now has more than 2,000 member companies which have invested some 260 billion yuan in Henan and Shanxi provinces, paid over 10 billion yuan in taxes and offered jobs to about 800,000 people. Donations worth 600 million yuan have been raised for charities targeting economically undeveloped regions.
