A live tourism-themed gala took place in the ancient city of Datong, Shanxi province, on April 28, marking the debut of the second season of the TV show "The Impressive Scenery of Shanxi".
Various performances were broadcast for audiences and TV viewers all over China. A total of 11 cities in Shanxi produced and showcased local delicacies such as bean jelly from Datong and beef from Jinzhong on the spot. More than 10,000 e-tickets for tourist attractions were also given away during the gala.

The first season of "The Impressive Scenery of Shanxi" in 2016 proved a success with Datong winning the right to host the provincial tourism development conference last year, stirring people's affection for hometowns and local tourism.
Supported by local performances, top officials in each city competed with each other onstage in a jovial manner to attract more visitors to their cities.
The second season, themed around the image of the city, industrial transformation, innovation and development driven by tourism, will set the stage for each episode at a tourist hotspot in one of 10 cities (except Datong) in Shanxi.
In the TV show, cities in Shanxi will compete for the right to host the 2017 Shanxi Provincial Tourism Development Conference by promoting their tourism resources.
Taking the live tourism-themed gala as a starting point, the second season of the program will feature 10 outdoor episodes, a live broadcast of the finale and a gala night for the 2017 provincial tourism development conference.
The first episode of the TV show will be broadcast on May 5.
