Some 310,000 Shanxi students are taking part in China's annual college entrance exam, or gaokao, this year, striving to earn acceptance into their ideal universities and colleges.
To ensure the secure arrival of students, local traffic police have been stationed near exam sites to clear the way for students. Special vehicles and 18 emergency service stations have been prepared to help students in case of emergencies.
More than 10,000 additional vehicles, including taxis and buses, in cities across Shanxi have joined in the act of transporting students to exam sites free of charge, which has been carried out for 12 years with more volunteers annually participating.
Various measures have been taken to eliminate cheating on the exam. The Shanxi Radio Administration Bureau has arranged 44 monitoring groups across the province to make sure that the exam is fair for all examinees.
