Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi province, has recently set up a consumer education base targeted at the elderly to help them make informed consumer choices and prevent them from falling victim to fraud.
Many elderly residents have fallen victim to financial traps in recent years, causing disputes and sometimes tragedies. The consumer education base at Taiyuan University for the Elderly will include courses on being a consumer in the health care and finance sectors, as part of basic education for senior students at the university.
