Rishengchang Exchange Shop, a live theatre performance of Jinju Opera from Shanxi, was on show in Wuhan, Hubei province, to mark the beginning of a national tour of selected Shanxi theatre works on June 16.
Over the next six months, seven selected live theatre works, such as The Life of a Peking Opera Artist (Fenmo Chunqiu) and Thousand-Hand Bodhisattva, will be performed in 36 theatres in 15 provinces, cities and districts across China.
The performances include dancing, drama, Jinju Opera and folk orchestral music. The performance series is the largest event promoting Shanxi culture in recent years.
The tour is the first cooperative cultural program between the Shanxi provincial government and Poly Culture Group, after the two established a partnership in Dec 2016. The public-private partnership is expected to expand domestic and overseas communication channels for art troupes and institutions in Shanxi, and to help promote the province's culture.
