The US-China Energy Center (Shanxi), a joint project between Shanxi and the state of West Virginia, opened in Shanxi Scientific & Technology Innovation City, Taiyuan on June 23.
Shanxi and West Virginia, which is the second largest coal producer in the United States and leads the US in net interstate electricity exports, have been expanding partnerships in more areas, such as trade, energy, and research and development, since May 2016.
The energy center will advance technical innovation, industrial development and environmental improvement, fostering energy saving and the use of clean energy.
West Virginia University, Shanxi International Energy Group and Gemeng International Energy Co will support the energy center, offering new technical impetus for developing Shanxi and West Virginia. The three parties, who lead R & D of energy technology, have cooperated in the clean and efficient utilization of energy, use of carbon dioxide, and technical training for more than 10 years.
