More than 5,000 runners from home and abroad took part in the 2017 Changzhi Zhendong International Marathon held in Changzhi county, Shanxi province, on July 23.
As an accredited Chinese Athletic Association road race, the event attracted some talented runners who were able to enjoy some fine scenery on the intercity route between Changzhi county and Changzhi city. Notable sites visible from the course included Wufeng Tower, Taoqing River, and Laoxiong Mountain.
Philip Kiplagat Biwott from Kenya won the men’s race in a time of 2 hr 28 min 56 sec. Chebokel Milka Jebet, also a Kenyan marathoner, won the international women’s division in 3 hr 13 min 24 sec. In the domestic category the winners were Qiu Wangdong (male, 2 hr 30 min 32 sec) and Wang Wanfang (female, 3 hr 1 min 55 sec).
