The 2017 National Collegiate Bridge Championships were held at Shanxi University from July 23 to 26, attracting 80 teams from 51 universities and colleges from across China.
During three days of competition, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Peking University and Fudan University won the top three places in the A-Level team event. Shanxi University won third prize in the women’s A-Level team event and ranked seventh in the A-Level team event.

Shanxi University has been focusing on improving the bridge skills of its students. Bridge courses have been running since 2008 with more than 2,000 students having received bridge training.
"The national bridge event will help promote bridge among college students, and, play a vital role in spreading bridge, improve students' decision-making skills, and develop team spirit," said Yin Jie, vice-president of Shanxi University.
Launched in 2004, the National Collegiate Bridge Championships have been held 12 times.
