Conference focuses on internet development in Shanxi

Focusing on trends and hot issues in the internet industry of the province, Shanxi held its second internet conference in Taiyuan on Aug 3.

The conference, themed "new thinking, new combination and new economy", aimed to help integrate the internet industry with traditional industries to establish a platform for the sharing of advanced internet technologies, entrepreneurial experiences and promotional government policies.

More than 90 representatives in the industry, such as Wu Hequan, chairman of Internet Society of China, and Du Yuejin, chief security officer of Alibaba, were invited to share views and deliver speeches at the main forum of the conference.

Seven sub-forums in the areas of big data, intelligent medical care and new media were also held at the conference, with entrepreneurs, experts and internet media sharing the latest information in the industry.

A report on Shanxi's internet development in 2016 was also released at the conference. In 2016, there were 20.35 million netizens in Shanxi, accounting for 55.5 percent of the population of the province, ranking ninth in China. There have been 58,167 websites recorded in Shanxi by the end of 2016, up 14.8 percent year-on-year.
