Featuring traditional Shanxi culture, Hong Kong Shanxi Festival which opened on Nov 10, attracted many Hong Kong residents.
The festival, hosted by Shanxi Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, aimed to help further people’s understanding of Shanxi, the cultural roots of Chinese civilization, and promote links between the two regions from the aspects of arts, recreation and food.
The event consists of two parts, namely a Shanxi-themed recreation park (Nov 10 to 12) which highlights noted historical sites like the Ancient City of Pingyao using virtual reality, and the Hong Kong Shanxi Food Festival from Nov 1 to 30.
Various exhibitions and activities during the first Hong Kong Shanxi Festival brought Shanxi culture which has had a significant impact on Chinese civilization to Hong Kong, said Cheung Kin-chung, chief secretary for administration of the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
